The historic Forsyth-Warren Tavern is a historic site listed in the National Register of Historic Places. It is a fine example of an early settlement on the Niagara Frontier with a number of architecturally and historically significant buildings that remain intact and in their original locations. These buildings are relatively sound and strong candidates for continued research and subsequent historic restoration that could render them true to their original appearance and functionality. The lives and stories of the people that resided and passed though this place of business are equally impressive and deserving of safeguarding. 

A group of citizens from across the State of New York worked tirelessly to save this historic site from the brink of destruction and lawfully obtained permits and permissions to operate the site as a living history museum over the course of 2017-2020. 

The Forsyth-Warren Tavern Living History Farm and Museum was established as a chartered non-profit 501(c)(3) institution. 

Before the museum could open to the public however, the Town of Cambria, in which the site resides, revoked all of the property's and institution's permits to operate and to continue restoring the site. 

They did this without cause and without due process: merely sending the museum's Board of Trustees Attorney notice that all permits were revoked and that all use and occupation of the buildings was to cease and dissit without trial or opportunity to be heard. 

A lengthy and costly legal battle has been ongoing since then. This created a burden on property's stewards to maintain the historic site after a costly financial investment that included repopulating the historic farm with heritage animals. 

The museum was forced to lay off its entire staff, cancel its community contracts, cancel all of its fundraisers and close the property to the public and researchers alike. 

It is anticipated that the museum will prove successful in its legal battle and prove that the actions taken to arbitrarily revoke the sites permits was done in malice, bad faith and in opposition to the most basic of constitutional rights. However, the way that our legal system is structured, being proven right will not correct the damage done, nor will it allow the museum to reopen to the public.

Our team needs to force a group of small-town politicians, men that have proven themselves anti tourism, anti history, anti citizen rights and interests, that this museum should be allowed to open.
