Why this petition matters

REMEMBER TO PARTICIPATE IN THE MAIL OUT! Disney listens to snail mail. Send them a letter and tell them you want to see the continuation of the series!! (Also maybe some merch while they're at it! ;) )

About the Cancellation:
The Owl House has been renewed for a shortened 3rd season. We want at least another full season length!! Dana posted on Twitter that we will be getting a short season containing just 3 special length episodes; the equivalent of 6 normal episodes. It is confirmed that this will be the last season. This was NOT Dana's choice; she had been hoping for a normal 10-20 episode pickup, and not expecting a cancellation. As The Owl House is one of Disney's most popular currently airing shows, my speculation is that this cancellation was brought on by budget constraints due to COVID-19 and the inability to run the Disney parks.

Dana tweeted that if we want to see the show continue, TOH merch, or anything else TOH related, snail mail is the way to go. Disney still reads and responds to snail mail. This is an effective way of contacting them. They don't appear to read DMs and emails, presumably due to 1) the sheer number they receive, and 2) the fact that people mailing letters are statistically over 18 and therefore able to earn and spend money (like on, say, cable subscriptions or merch).

About the Show and Why It Is Important:
The Owl House is beautifully drawn, wonderfully written, and features a diverse cast, including a Latinx main character. The story follows quirky teen Luz Noceda as she finds herself stumbling through a magic portal and into a world of witches, monsters, and magic. There, she befriends a rebellious and confident witch named Eda and her adorable King of Demons sidekick. In just a few short episodes, we see the three of them quickly fall into a caring, supportive, and positive family environment.

The Owl House embraces being different and "weird" as good, and that it is important to be true to yourself. TOH sends inspiring messages to viewers of all ages, showing them that hard work pays off, that people aren't always what they seem- both good and bad- and so much more. Imperfections are valued, and their positive sides displayed.

Not only that, but TOH should also provides LGBTQ+ representation, which is unfortunately still rare in this day and age, and is not accurate to modern society. The Owl House is one of the rare shows that don't shy away from including LGBTQ+ characters.

Seeing yourself on the screen is incredibly important, not just for self esteem, but because it shapes not only others' images of us, but our image of ourselves."[W]hether intentionally or unintentionally, both the news and the entertainment media 'teach' the public about minorities, other ethnic groups and societal groups, such as women, gays, and the elderly," Carlos Cortes, The Children Are Watching: How the Media Teach About Diversity

What message is it that we want to be putting out? Personally, I know I want to watch inclusive TV shows with positive representation of different races, sexualities, body sizes, and economic status. I want to see weirdness and imperfections celebrated, not shamed. The Owl House provides just this - so let's see it continue!

Edit: Dana tweeted saying that Disney is most likely to respond to snail mail. Feel free to print off the template email and mail that in! Mail your letters here:
