Why this petition matters

Started by Cole Gebhard

The city of Bozeman and its citizens would greatly benefit from a rail yard being permanently set up at an unspecified location. Montana state university recently held a rail jam, it was a huge success, to say the least. The crowds were very lively and it was a great engagement opportunity.

This is already happening in Denver CO, the ruby park rail yard is a very popular attraction in the location. https://www.denvergov.org/Government/Agencies-Departments-Offices/Agencies-Departments-Offices-Directory/Parks-Recreation/News/2022/Ruby-Hill-Rail-Yard-Now-Open-for-2022-Season

This area is used quite frequently and has received generous donations from local ski resorts and companies. There sure is a crowd for it, and would benefit the community as a whole.

Urban skiing is a very big part of skiing, but sometimes the spots chosen can obstruct handrails, and block stairways for elderly users. Having a rail yard would benefit by bringing skiers together into an area where they can practice their rail slides, swaps, and other tricks. Similar to a skatepark, this would be an excellent attraction.

Consider it Bozeman, there is a large number of people that will use this, and already popular spots like Lindley park could be considered among others.

Zero Zone MT, is a group of park enthusiasts who have already had this planned, the only thing holding it back is permits, let’s get it going, Bozeman!

Update 2/23: A rail yard is very similar to a terrain park you see at ski resorts, with more of a focus on smaller obstacles. Flat bars, boxes, and tubes are some similar features used. It is smaller, and easily attainable by a small walk at the bottom of the hill.

Update 3/2: Past 100 supporters thanks, guys! We have gained knowledge that the bridger ski foundation is in the works as well, with more support this could be a reality. Any help with locations would be greatly apreciated.
