Why this petition matters

Started by Barrie Galpin

The owners of the meadow at Top Lodge, Fineshade have repeatedly applied for Planning Permission to develop it - for static caravans, for lodge development, for camping, for glamping. And repeatedly their plans have been opposed by the community and refused by the council. Now they have appealed against their latest defeat.
We call on the Planning Inspector to reject their appeal. Let’s put an end to this damaging and nonsensical idea once and for all.

There’s full details of the Planning Application on the Friends of Fineshade website here: www.fineshade.org.uk/glamping

Here are the four reasons North Northamptonshire Council (NNC)  gave to refuse the last planning application.

  • The proposal would result in visual harm to the character and appearance of the locality and wider landscape.
  • The proposed development is not compatible with the nature conservation interests for which the application site is designated as a Local Wildlife Site.
  • There would be harm to the important agricultural setting of the Grade II listed Top Lodge Farmhouse which contributes to its historic significance.
  • Safe and convenient access to the site is not possible given the hazards at the present junction of Top Lodge Road and the A43 and there are concerns about intensification of use of Top Lodge Road itself, given the insufficient carriageway width and lack of footway provision.

The owners of the field say they disagree with all four reasons. By signing this petition you will be sending a message to the Planning Inspector that you support NNC's refusal of the plans.
