Why this petition matters

Started by Shanu Pande

I am creating this petition due to a personal experience that has traumatized me to core. Sign and share my petition so that no one else suffers this injustice at the hands of Air Canada.

My father Mr. Harish Chandra Pant tragically died on the Air Canada Delhi-Montreal flight AC051, on September 11th, due to the severe negligence, incompetence, and extreme apathy displayed by the Air Canada crew.

7 hours into the 16-hour long flight, my father got severe chest pain, back ache, restlessness, nausea, and shivering of the limbs. At this point, he also lost control of his bowel & bladder movements. Me, along with my 83-year-old mother-in-law, repeatedly pleaded the Air Canada crew to divert the flight and make an emergency landing since my father had clearly suffered a massive heart attack and his condition was deteriorating in front of my eyes.

I even requested the crew to show me the flight trajectory 2 hours after the heart attack (9 hours into the journey). The flight was somewhere in Europe during that time, and it would have been very easy to make an emergency landing. However, despite seeing a senior citizen crumble in front of their eyes, the crew flat out refused to make an emergency landing, stating that they could not unless the situation was "life-threatening". Imagine being forced to stay on a flight for an additional 7-9 hours until we reached Montreal while my dad was barely holding onto life.

More so, the so-called first aid-trained crew did not know how to use the mercury blood pressure monitor that they were carrying. They did not even have electrolytes on plane that I requested for my dad. I was nursing my father while facing acute trauma and harassment by the Air Canada staff.

After this constant suffering for 9 hours, as soon as the plane landed in Montreal, my father suffered a sudden second heart attack, leading to his death in the Air Canada aircraft itself.  Please watch the whole story on the video link attached and share as much as possible.

Also, check the following twitter link and retweet as much as possible.

We are calling on the airlines worldwide and especially Air Canada to improve their emergency response protocols for heart attacks. This includes comprehensive training for cabin crew members and ensuring availability of essential medical equipment onboard every flight. Having equipment which crew do not even know how to use has no meaning.

Also, I need answers-

1. Why did Air Canada not divert the plane to save the life of my dear father? Why did they do this to him?

2. Why was he denied the basic right to live; was it for commercial reasons or was it racism?

3. Air Canada crew claimed that his condition was "not life-threatening", who was the person who made that decision that cost him his life?
