I am signing this petition to ask for medical autonomy for CCSD Educators and Employees. 

Medical autonomy is a critical freedom whether you choose the inoculation or not. 

Forcing our staff could not only cripple the district due to existing shortages; but also inevitably cause our students to fail, which should be the absolute priority of the superintendent and board. We implore you to let us retain the authority over our own health choices.

The right to informed medical consent is considered a fundamental, overriding principle of medical ethics and international law, first laid down by United States government jurists in the Nuremberg Code. See e.g., The Nuremberg Code (1947), 313 BMJ 1448 (1996) (“The voluntary consent of the human subject is absolutely essential. This means that the person…[is] able to exercise free power of choice, without the intervention of any element of…coercion.”); see also UNESCO Universal Declaration on Bioethics and Human Rights, Article 6(1).

Public policy further demands that uncoerced consent is required. The clear policy choice made at the highest levels of government to protect the individual’s right to choose is further supported by the fact that whether these  are actually safe and effective is not yet known and will not be known, according to priorities laid out by the CDC, FDA and the NIH, for many years to come.

Please, stand up for your staff that you desperately need, and in doing so, stand up for your students who you swore under oath to ensure that every student in every classroom achieves success. This will not be possible without CCSD Educators and Employees.
