Install Crosswalk light and post at Rte. 67 crossing of Larkin Trail in Southbury
Why this petition matters
The Connecticut Horse Council (CHC) is asking for your help in getting a crosswalk light and a post that has two activation buttons (person and a mounted horse level) at the Rte. 67 crossing of the Larkin Bridle Trail in Southbury.
This crossing is very dangerous, not only for horses but for any person on foot or bicycle to cross. It is heavily traveled and fast with fast moving vehicles. On one side of the trail is a very steep incline that puts people right up to the road with very little space to wait for cars to stop on both sides in order to cross over. This trail is used by all user groups: joggers, walkers with dogs or young children/ baby carriages. The safety of all users at this road crossing will benefit with the crosswalk light at this crossing.
Members of the CHC and Volunteer Horse Patrol help to maintain the trail system, work with DEEP and promote trail etiquette for all users. We would appreciate your help in getting this project for public safety at this crossing.
Thank you for your consideration of this safety project.
