NCAA referee Larry Scirotto was removed from his role as Chief of Police of the City of Fort Lauderdale in March of 2022. Mr. Scirotto was fired after an investigation for racial discrimination and discriminatory hiring practices. Due to this termination, Mr. Scirotto should also be banned from officiating NCAA sporting events as his track record proves he doesn’t uphold the values of equity and consistent decision making regarding race. This is in direct conflict with the values the NCAA upholds and promotes. In addition to his personal termination, Mr. Scirotto has a consistent history of being one of the worst officials in the Big Ten. His inconsistency shows through in the course of games and his decision making often alters the course of the games end result. If the NCAA values equity, it should terminate Larry Scirotto.
