There's a good chance the team won't be able to get this done by the October 15th playoff game, however, let's keep this going and try to encourage the Mariners/T-Mobile Park folks to change the base that the statue rests during the offseason from a permanent base to one that can swivel around, allowing Dave to watch all the big games from next season on!

Our goal: 47,943 signatures (one for each seat at T-Mobile Park!)

Unless you live under a rock in the aquarium at your local Petco or are a scraggly lighthouse keeper off the shores of East-Jesús Montero-Nowhere, you've probably heard by now that the Seattle Mariners will host a playoff game for the first time since 2001.

As the circle of life goes, not every Mariners fan can be here this year to watch -- notably the late Dave Niehaus.

Per the esteemed primary source, Wikipedia, "David Niehaus was the lead play-by-play announcer for the American League's Seattle Mariners from their inaugural season in 1977 until his death after the 2010 season. In 2008, the National Baseball Hall of Fame awarded Niehaus the Ford C. Frick Award, the highest honor for American baseball broadcasters. Among fans nationwide and his peers, Niehaus was considered to be one of the finest sportscasters in history."

Well said, Wikipedia.

If you've been to T-Mobile Park recently or follow one of many Mariners fans on Twitter, you've most certainly seen the Dave Niehaus monument on the Main Concourse at Section 105. In the way he's currently positioned, Statue Dave cannot watch a game and we want to change that.

Sign our petition to encourage the powers that be of T-Mobile Park to sign off on getting the Dave Niehaus monument turned 180º so he can watch the game!

*With ultimate props to Chris (from Bothell), a Lookout Landing commenter who proposed the idea!*
