911 operator Donna Renau acted with depraved indifference to the plight of Debra Stevens, a 47 year old woman who became trapped in her car as flood waters began to pour into her vehicle. Unable to swim, she drowned as she was mocked by the 911 dispatcher who told her in no uncertain terms to "Shut up" and when Debra said that she couldn't swim, that the water was bigger than her (she was 5 feet and the water was up to her neck), the dispatcher said and I quote "Well at least you're not 3 feet so you should be fine". 

Eventually she noticed that the water was past the doors and became frantic. What was this dispatcher's response when she began drowning? Even as Debra began to say she couldn't breath?

"Listen Ms debby, I'm going to need you to shut up ok? I need you to listen to me"

And now, this woman is dead due to Renau's horrific indifference to this woman's life. Her sons are now without a mother and her husband without a wife. She deserves to be punished- no, she deserves to be blacklisted from ever working as a 911 operator ever again. This is shocking, shameful and utterly inhumane. Devau deserves the full punishment under US law and I urge police to arrest her for murder by inaction. 

We depend upon 911 crews to save our lives in emergencies. When people like this are put on the job, it speaks volumes to the amount of care that we'll receive, namely, none.

I am calling on her to be blacklisted from ever serving as a 911 operator ever again. That should be sufficient for a punishment. She is NOT innocent of wrongdoing, and must NOT be rewarded. Denau needs to be punished for her actions.
