The BIN TAX is back! Not just one, but 2 different bin taxes in what is no more than a cynical way to get around the rate cap. Not only that, but the council plans in the near future to halve the rate of rubbish collection to once a fortnight.

In the first of several street meetings last night there has been a record turnout. Get along to one of the public meetings below to find out what you can do.

Contact your local councillors (crs@yarracity.vic.gov.au) and let them know how you feel.

This is a council in a spending crisis that is simply trying to push its problem onto residents with these new bin taxes.

The council PR spin is already in full force absurdly trying to weave a deceptive alternative narrative that this somehow isn't a tax. That is justan lie from the PR department and their shills that are pushing this. This tax is to slug residents rather than address their own overspending problems just a day after spending $2.2m on Burnley Golf Course for a problem caused by the private toll road with billions in profits.

This is the exact campaign they tried to run back in 2017 which resulted in complete embarassment for the councillors and the council that pushed it. New CEO Sue Wilkinson has bought this back in her first 12 months and has done nothing to reassure the community that she is fit for the job despite her $400k a year salary.

Councillors and executives have just ensured that Yarra is one step closer to having the administrators called in.
