Why this petition matters

Started by Elaine Hopper

The Victorian Government is converting the previous Healesville Freeway Reserve (HFR) in Vermont South into a public recreation park. A shared path will run from end to end.

This calls on The Hon. Shaun Leane MP to extend the proposed shared path beyond the park boundaries and connect it to the Dandenong Creek Trail and the network of trails from Bayswater, Ferntree Gully, Croydon, Jells Park, Dandenong, and Carrum.

The Dandenong Creek Trail junction will become a key point of entry to the new park.

The trail extension would bring about 250 more people a week to the big HFR Park. This may double the number of visitors to the new park. (Based on data from VicRoads automatic traffic counters on trails)

The HFR Shared Path is a class C2 corridor because of its important function as an east-west link in the network of trails.
