Why this petition matters

Started by Diana Anzaldua

March is Women’s History Month in the United States. Local Austin, TX business and non-profit founder, Diana Anzaldua, worked with the City of Austin to declare March as Women’s Mental Health Month in Austin, Texas. Ideally, we hope to make this a national declaration. With your help, we can do this together!

1 in 5 women experiences a mental health disorder (compared to 1 in 8 men). Women have higher rates of PTSD, depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation. Contigo Wellness is striving to change this for women in Austin, throughout Texas, and ideally, nationwide.

Diana Anzaldua says, “Women’s Mental Health Month is important as women tend to have higher rates of depression and trauma. Women tend to nurture and care for others as part of societal expectations, which is oppressive and can increase rates of trauma. Having a focus on women's mental health can empower women and improve confidence, while also creating healing for future generations!”

Diana Anzaldua is the owner and founder of Austin Trauma Therapy Center. She is also the founder of Contigo Wellness, a non-profit that seeks to destigmatize mental health care and make mental health care accessible to all people, regardless of skin color, financial situation, or belief system.

Let's work together to create awareness and change!
