Ejaz Choudry was murdered by Peel Regional Police on June 20, 2020.

Uncle Ejaz had schizophrenia and was undergoing an episode when the family called for help. The police immediately barricaded the apartment, refusing to let family members in to help coax him out. 

Using a ladder, the police entered the apartment through the balcony, kicking down the door, demanding for Uncle Ejaz to "get down", and then immediately firing 5 simultaneous shots. He was murdered by the police who refused to deal with a mentally ill patient appropriately.

The intentions of the Peel Regional Police were made evident from their actions. There are several other methods that could be used to deescalate a situation, yet a gun was the immediate choice of action. The police arrived and entered the apartment with the intention to kill. 

Uncle Ejaz was a father of 4, a husband, a brother, an uncle, and a beloved community member. This was the brutal killing of an innocent man.
