The power to drastically reduce the use of plastic is in each of our hands.  Even recycled plastics and foil are ending up in landfills and polluting our oceans.  Ask Ferrara Candy Company to make the switch to eco-friendly non-toxic compostable recycled paper, recycled cardboard, and plant-based wax paper for packaging materials.  We specifically are asking them to start by packaging their mini box candies (i.e. nerds, lemon heads, etc.) in a recycled paper box instead of a plastic bag. 

(This option can actually be found when purchasing from Amazon online.  We are asking for the plastic-free cardboard box package option in our local grocery stores as well.)

When plastics do finally break down, the chemical compounds they are made up of mix into our soil.  The food we grow in this soil is in turn contaminated and these chemical compounds enter our bodies.
