Why this petition matters

Started by Peter Austin

The University of Roehampton is proposing significant changes to their Arts & Play Therapies programmes. Staff members delivering these programmes have all been put at risk of redundancy, and a consultation process has been commenced. This is already having negative impacts on the training experiences of students, and of course major ramifications for the tutors involved. Many students chose to train at Roehampton due to its reputation for having some of the most respected and experienced tutors in the UK. As the nature of these training courses often involves the review of deeply personal psychological content, consistent relationships between tutors and students is vital. Any changes to staff numbers, or indeed individual staff members, would be significantly detrimental to both the learning experience and quality of teaching. Arts & Play Therapies are a crucial and integral part of healthcare services. Compromises in the quality of teaching and available resources will lead to a decline in applications to train, a poor learning experience for trainees, and will ultimately impact on service-users and their families. Please support us in our bid to stop the University of Roehampton from implementing these proposed changes.
