Why this petition matters

Started by Jeanne Larson

I want to say thank you to everyone who has signed the petition to remove Amber Heard from Aquaman 2. It’s been astounding, seeing so many people raise up their voices to let Warner Bros know that we didn’t want a known and proven abuser to play a superhero, or a role model that children could look up to.

However, our voices were not listened to.

When the verdict in the Depp Vs Heard defamation case came down, in which it was found that Johnny Depp was abused by Amber Heard, it was expected that Heard’s role in Aquaman 2 would be dramatically reduced or eliminated altogether.

Instead, test screenings show that Heard’s role not only remained in the film, but that her time onscreen actually doubled, with a possible Aquaman/Mera baby plot thrown in for good measure. They didn’t get rid of Amber Heard when it was proven in a court of law that she abused her husband. They doubled down on keeping her in the film.

So I’m asking you to sign this new petition to let Warner Bros, the studio responsible for supporting a known and proven abuser – Heard – while firing her victim – Depp – know that we refuse to support a franchise that continues to support Amber Heard.

We are not just faceless names on a petition, here. We’re the people who keep them in business with ticket sales. The primaries in the film have already been paid. They won’t be hurt at all by having the masses boycott the film. The only ones that will be hurt are the folks at the studio. Our ticket sales are essential for them to be able to afford to make more films, and stay in business.

If they won’t listen to our voices, maybe they’ll pay attention when the film flops and it hits them where it really hurts. In their wallets.

Join us. Boycott the Aquaman franchise.
