Why this petition matters

The time for action is now. As the third most populous U.S. State without a medical cannabis program, North Carolina’s medical patients deserve safe, legal, and meaningful access to medical cannabis.

On 8 June 2022, a bill creating a framework for legal medical cannabis in North Carolina (SB711) was approved by the North Carolina Senate by a 36-7 margin. However, as of 21 June 2022, SB711 is awaiting a final approval vote by the North Carolina House of Representatives. SB711 is within the House’s Committee On Rules, Calendar, and Operations and is not currently scheduled to be voted upon in the State of North Carolina’s 2022 short legislative session; which concludes on 30 June 2022.

The Speaker of the House, Rep. Tim Moore, has stated the Bill will not be put to a vote in 2022, despite bipartisan support and 72% of North Carolina residents in support of legalization of medical cannabis.

Contact the members of the North Carolina House of Representatives as soon as possible (before 1 July 2022) by phone and email to reiterate your support of SB711 and voice the need for SB711 to be voted on within the House of Representatives before the State of North Carolina’s 2022 short legislative session ends on 30 June 2022. Please also contact Speaker of the House Tim Moore by phone and email to underline the importance of SB711 to North Carolina medical patients.

Make your voice heard to affect change and to help North Carolina’s medical patients gain meaningful legal access to medical cannabis. Contact info@sanativenc.com for more information.
