Residents of Surrey Hills and Mont Albert demand tree retention be maximised for LXRP
Residents of Surrey Hills and Mont Albert demand tree retention be maximised for LXRP
Why this petition matters
We are residents of Mont Albert & Surrey Hills facing the loss of parkland and the needless destruction of mature canopy trees at the hands of the LXRP, a state government agency that removes railway level crossings.
Approximately 550 trees are earmarked for removal and a further 100 trees are under investigation.
Our HERITAGE & AMENITY is about to be ripped senselessly from us.
THIS MEANS ALL TREES GONE in:
- Lorne Parade Reserve, Mont Albert
- Windsor Crescent abutting the reserve, including 100+ year old oak trees
- Streets along the Rail corridor (Sunbury Crescent, Churchill Street, Lorne Parade, Beresford Street & Beatty Street)
We know the level crossings have to go but: Do so many mature canopy trees have to go too?
The LXRP are going to fence the reserve off on 25th October and start clear felling the trees - reducing the park to woodchips!
MAKE A STAND TODAY and help us to stop this wanton destruction from happening
WE ARE CALLING ON THE STATE GOVERNMENT TO SAVE MORE TREES
To require the LXRP to sign up to a TREE RETENTION PLAN FOR THIS PROJECT - AND STICK TO IT
