After only 2 seasons of Javicia Leslie as Batwoman, and 3 seasons overall, the CW TV show Batwoman has been cancelled. Batwoman started off slowly but when its lead was replaced and Javicia Leslie stepped into the role, the show took off in new and exciting ways. Javicia Leslie is a Black actress who is in the LGBTQ community and she played a new character, Ryan Wilder who finds the Batsuit and sets out to find Kate Kane. In the shows 3rd and unfortunately final season we truly get to experience Ryan Wilder and Javicia Leslie step out of the shadows of Kate Kane and the shows previous lead. Batwoman was a first for a number of things in the area of diverse characters and representation. The majority of the actors on this show are Black and Brown. There were 2 Black superheroes, an Asian poison ivy, and a Black joker. Batwoman did more than just check boxes, it gave its characters rich dynamic storylines that often are not given to Black and Brown actors. Batwoman was also doing something that no other show did and that was proudly showcasing Black lesbian love on primetime TV. Black lesbians and Black queer folks could finally see themselves on screen in a way that wasn't riddled with stereotypes or oversexualized content for the male gaze. 

Batwoman needs to be saved because Representation Matters. Javicia Leslie talks about it all the time, Viola Davis talks about it all the time.
