This lack of mobile phone service is not merely an inconvenience, it is a DANGER for residents in cases of emergency.

In Palisades, New York there are five cell towers within 1.5mile radius of the center of the hamlet of Palisades.  For years, there has been NO to LIMITED cell service:

-on Oak Tree Road from RT 9W to RT 340 (and streets to the north, south east and west) AND 

-on RT 9W from exit 4 of the Palisades Interstate Pkwy (NJ) north to Kopac Lane, Palisades, NY.

Within this DEAD ZONE area there are two nursery schools, a swim club, Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory, a church, a market, a post office, a library, a bus stop, a community center, small private businesses and hundreds of residents.  But the wider effect is to ANYONE who travels within this area along RT 9W and Oak Tree Road, which has thousands of motorists and cyclists per day. Consistently calls are dropped or not able to be connected at all.  Without question, this DISRUPTION coupled with NO CELL SERVICE is a serious threat to safety.

To the Attorney General: Residents and businesses existing in this affected area PAY monthly fees to AT&T, Sprint, T-mobile, Verizon and Optimum and receive no service. Clearly their service should be restored and AT THE VERY LEAST, they should receive refunds/adjustments to their monthly fees. They are paying for no service.

To the FCC: We demand that the FCC look into this situation immediately and have cell service be activated in this area.This area is not a rural area without nearby cell towers. There are five within 1.5mile radius of this area. i.e.There are people who live a stone's throw from the cell tower at 348 RT 9W and have no service. What is causing the disruption in transmission? What action needs to be taken to correct this? Should an additional cell tower be installed?

To AT&T, Sprint, T-mobile, Verizon and Optimum: You have cell towers in the vicinity but they are ineffective and services are not being rendered. We demand that you look into this, find out why the existing cell towers are not working and institute action to repair service.

To the appropriate the Orangetown and Rockland County representatives: We ask that you reach out to your communications connections to pressure them to create a resolution to this unsafe and unacceptable situation for your residents.

For all above, we request that this be a priority. Something is a miss.
