Why this petition matters

Started by Neil Holmes

It seems very unfair that the public are bearing the burden of the debt of the country in our taxes and fuel prices. I therefore propose that a windfall tax on the energy companies would be a far better way of taking our way out of the mountains of debt that are going to be created, so that these energy companies don't just make more money than they know what to do with.

The price of oil per barrel has actually gone down in recent days, so why are our petrol diesel and household heating bills going through the roof?

That 5p per litre cut in fuel duty will probably save me about £2 a week, while the rich get richer. Some people are having to decline potatoes from the food banks due to the fact they cannot afford to cook them. This is supposed to be a first world country?
