On our current trajectory, we are expected to be throwing away over 2 billion tons of plastic each year. Most of this plastic ends up in our oceans, posing a serious threat to marine organisms and the stability of our biosphere. Elijah Reinchlin-Melnick from the 38th senate district proposed Bill S7463 to amend the parks, recreation and historic preservation law. Bill 7463 bans the sale of single-use plastic water bottles in certain state parks to mitigate the harsh environmental consequences brought upon by plastic pollution.
