I am one of many members who joined Active & Fit Direct because of the flexibility it offered. The ability to sign up for multiple gyms allowed me to frequent different locations based on equipment availability and my work travel schedule. This flexibility is now under threat as Active & Fit Direct considers changing their gym membership policy.

Their current policy offers unlimited gym memberships for a flat fee of $28 per month, which has been a great value to members looking to have flexibility in gym memberships due to work, travel or life schedules. It also offered a buffer between the member and the gym, insulating us from predatory billing practices, contracts, etc. 

The proposed changes will limit our access, affecting not just me, but thousands of other members who rely on this program for maintaining their health and fitness by greatly increasing the cost of the program, making the first gym membership the flat fee of $28 and each additional gym membership will be billed at $23 per gym, eliminating the flexibility the original program offered at the pricepoint it was introduced to us at. According to a 2019 study by the International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association (IHRSA), gym-goers visit their club an average of two times per week. For those like us, who depend on multiple gyms due to various reasons such as work travel or specific equipment needs, this number could be even higher.

We urge Active & Fit Direct to reconsider these changes and maintain the current policy that allows us the freedom to choose where we exercise based on our individual needs and schedules. We believe in a healthy lifestyle that fits into our lives—not one that we must fit our lives around. We are also here to show Active & Fit that bait and switch policies and corporate greed will not be tolerated.
