Why this petition matters

Started by Emma Murray

I am a resident of Laurencekirk, living with pernicious anaemia, a condition that requires regular B12 injections. This is not just my story but also the story of my mother and grandmother before me. We are among many in our community who rely on these vital services provided by the Laurencekirk Medical Centre.

The NHS is currently under immense pressure due to government policies, yet our local medical centre has always been there for us. It's more than capable of administering this simple 5-minute injection which is crucial for so many people's health and wellbeing.

Laurencekirk has a significant population of elderly residents who depend on these injections. For them, travelling outside the town to receive their treatment isn't just inconvenient - it can be nearly impossible without help.

We understand that resources are stretched thin and decisions have to be made about service provisions. However, we believe it's essential that B12 injections continue to be available at Laurencekirk Medical Centre. This isn't about personal gain; it's about ensuring everyone in our community can access the healthcare they need without undue hardship.

We urge those in charge to consider the impact on patients like us if this service were no longer available locally. Please ensure that B12 injections remain accessible at Laurencekirk Medical Centre - for us, for our neighbours, and for future generations dealing with conditions like pernicious anaemia.

Please sign this petition if you believe in maintaining local healthcare services and supporting vulnerable members of our community.
