Subject: Request for Blue Collar Barbie Collection!

Louise “Womanic” Baker (UK) and Bogi Lateiner (USA) - both females in the Automotive trade have teamed up for this petition. Speaking on behalf of women all around the world!

This is a unique idea that is long overdue and that we believe could greatly benefit your toy line and provide young children with new avenues for imaginative play. 

We propose the creation of a "Blue Collar Barbie" collection, aimed at introducing children to a diverse range of professions and promoting inclusivity. While Barbie has always been an iconic figure representing various careers, there is an opportunity to expand the horizons by including professions that are often underrepresented in toys.  We applaud the range of careers that Barbie has explored and represented in recent years, the inclusion of more traditionally male and STEM careers has done wonders to highlight the fact that careers do not have genders and that little girls can be WHATEVER they set their minds to. 

However, there remains a lack of representation of blue collar careers.  Careers that women can excel at and where they are greatly needed!  The blue collar trades are vital careers, without which society as we know it would cease to function.  And the women in these trades deserve recognition and representation. 

We strongly believe, and know you do too, that if she can see it - she can be it.  Incorporating professions such as mechanics, construction workers, welders, plumbers, and other blue-collar roles into your Barbie line could foster an understanding and appreciation for these essential jobs. This would not only educate children about the importance of these careers but also encourage them to dream beyond traditional gender norms.

By launching a Blue Collar Barbie collection, your company could send a powerful message of empowerment and equality. It would also provide parents and educators with a valuable tool to initiate conversations about the diverse roles people play in society.
