Why this petition matters

Started by Edward Sebesta

At the MacArthur High school the adminstrators removed all the LGBTQ safe space stickers under the pretense of "neutrality." Hundreds of students walked out. It has made international news.

We have a webpage where you can follow the developing news stories, learn about what a racist egomanic Gen. Douglas MacArthur was, which is why he is a favorite of Donald Trump, but president Franklin Delano Roosevelt called the most dangerous man in America. Also a bibliography of history books to read about the integration of the U.S. military during the Korean War.

If the name is changed to Lil Nas X or some other LGBTQ hero, such as African American Bayard Rustin, it makes the whole high school a safe place. It is also is a committment of the Irving ISD to support the human dignity of LGBTQ people.

Also, it is the start of giving up the racism of the past, to deracialize the landscape. It is landscape reparations in that it repairs the landscape by removing a racist name from the built environment. The Dallas Fort Worth areas were build with the profits of slavery, but Africaness isn't seen on the landscape.

This is a step towards landscape reparations.

This is an action undertaken by the Radcial Dallas Fort Worth Area Historians.
