In 2021 the Center for International Environmental Law (CIEL) posted a highly influential and succinct briefing to our nation's top leaders, including President Biden; Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House of Representatives; Charles Schumer, Majority Leader, United States Senate; and Jennifer Granholm, Secretary of the Department of Energy, among others.  The briefing, Confronting the Myth of Carbon-Free Fossil Fuels: Why Carbon Capture Is Not a Climate Solution, mobilized dozens of climate-protecting organizations to urge these leaders to pursue 5 fundamental actions, all of which avoid the deployment of Carbon Capture and Sequestration, because of the fundamental ineffectiveness of CCS as a solution to the climate crisis. 

The Clean Energy Justice Convergence has reproduced this excellent letter in the context of this week's Clean Energy Ministerial in Pittsburgh from Sept. 21-23, 2022 to urge more organizations to send a message to the world's energy ministers to avoid Carbon Capture and Sequestration (CCS and CCUS) as part of their platform.
