Why this petition matters

Started by Olatunde Oluwatuyi

Nigerian Nurses Visa applications for family unification and those appealing after refusal has taken too long to be attended to.It is so sad that Nigerian and Ghanaian Nurses working in Ireland find it hard to bring there family to join them for about 2 years now or more for others even when it's said that the family Reunification is priority visa, The Ireland Embassy in Nigeria has refused to treat it as same. Ever since COVID arrived on our shores, we have worked exceptionally hard to provide care and see the country through this dark time. For almost a year, we have gone to work knowing that we were at extreme risk of getting the virus. At points in the pandemic, healthcare workers made up a third of all confirmed cases. Nurses and midwives alone made up over 10% of cases at one point.
We have missed breaks, isolated from our friends and worked above and beyond our typical roles. As the applause for the frontline fades, we continue to work and are frankly exhausted. Morale is at an all-time low.

The aim of this  petition  is to appeal and  urge Irish embassy in Nigeria to facilitate  and to notify the general public about our family reunification which always takes so long for them to issue family reunification visa. We are urging the Irish Government to facilitate Nigerian and Ghanaian's family reunification for critical skill permit holders especially in this pandemic. We look at countries like South Africa, Zimbabwens, Philippines, Indians and other part of Asians including other colleagues across other borders whom we applied Months before WITH SAME CRITICAL SKILL PERMIT HOLDER all have their family reunited with them which all of them got theirs processed within 10-14 days only. All we are urging and pleading is for same fair treatment to be felt by us Nigerians/Ghanians. We need family to hold on to after work to ease us all the stress at work. It will go a long way in our mental health

We plead that you help sign this petition for those who have appealed to the Irish embassy concerning the refused family visa despite having Critical skills work permit as Nurses and as we have served the public during this pandemic period, kindly support all healthcare workers especially Nurses in this matter and help us get some tangible recognition of our plea and effect made as soon as possible. Many of us are devastated and mentally exhausted as family unification is difficult for us. We cry for help.

Yours in service to humanity,

Nigerian and Ghanaian Nurses working in Ireland
