Why this petition matters

On 06/02/2023, two devastating earthquakes struck Syria and Turkey, leaving behind a trail of destruction and immense suffering. Despite the tireless efforts of rescuers, tens of thousands of people are still without basic necessities such as shelter, food, and medical care. The situation is dire and requires immediate and exceptional action.

To demonstrate our solidarity and support, we are calling on the Dutch government to facilitate visa procedures for those affected by the earthquakes. Many survivors have close family members and friends in the Netherlands who are eager to assist. The embassy in Syria is not accessible for years. Applications from Turkey, require high fees and long processing times, making it impossible to get timely visas. With many people having lost their personal belongings, including passports and financial means, the Dutch government must facilitate visa applications from Syria and Turkey.

We also request that the Dutch government prioritize the well-being of individuals and families by creating a swift family reunification process for applications coming from Syria and Turkey. It is time for the Dutch government to demonstrate its commitment to supporting those in need with ties to the Netherlands.

Join us in calling on the Dutch government to facilitate fast and accessible visa applications and prioritize the family reunification process for applicants from Syria and Turkey. Your signature and support will help make a tangible difference in the lives of those affected by the earthquakes.
