Why this petition matters

Private First Class Eleanor Pauline Hanna was a courageous servicewoman who dedicated her life to supporting her country during World War II. Tragically, she lost her life in a plane crash while serving in a remote area. Her remains were not recovered until many years later, and she now rests in peace at Twin Hills Cemetery, Montoursville.

Despite the fact that combat roles traditionally serve as the primary criteria for memorializing veterans, women were not permitted to partake in such positions during WWII. Yet this did not deter PFC Hanna from giving everything for her country. She served with honor and distinction, embodying the spirit of service and sacrifice that we should all aspire to.

It is time we recognize PFC Hanna's dedication and bravery by renaming Montoursville's "Green Bridge" after her. This would serve as a fitting tribute to an exceptional woman who gave so much for our nation.

We call upon the relevant authorities of Harrisburg and Pennsylvania,  to make this change as an acknowledgment of PFC Hanna's service and sacrifice. Let us remember our history correctly - honoring those who served regardless of their gender or role.

Please sign this petition if you believe that it is time we honor our heroes like PFC Eleanor Pauline Hanna properly.  Visit our website at https://www.post104al.org/news/EleanorPaulineHanna.html for more information on PFC Eleanor Pauline Hanna.
