Why this petition matters

Dublin Port Company (DPC) has plans to construct the largest container terminal in Ireland on the Poolbeg Peninsula. This massive project, covering nearly 15 acres, will introduce a host of environmental and quality-of-life issues for residents in Sandymount, County Dublin. The terminal is expected to facilitate frequent truck movements daily around the clock, leading to increased visual pollution and noise disturbances that can affect sleep patterns and overall health. Moreover, light pollution from this operation will disrupt natural habitats while diesel exhaust fumes contribute significantly to air pollution.

The scale of this project is also alarming as it threatens local biodiversity by overshadowing the Nature Reserve nearby. Furthermore, its height equivalent to a four-story building will obstruct views across our UNESCO Bay which is an integral part of our cultural heritage.

We urge DPC and relevant authorities to reconsider this development plan considering its profound impact on both human lives and nature. We believe there are alternative solutions that can balance economic growth with environmental sustainability without compromising residents' well-being or our natural heritage.

Please join us in calling for a halt on DPC's construction plan for Ireland's largest container terminal at Poolbeg Peninsula. Sign this petition today!
