Why this petition matters

Started by Lorna Hammond

St. Margaret’s parish church in Dalry, Ayrshire has been designated for closure by 2025. A church has been on this prominent site at the Cross in Dalry since the 11th or 12th century and the first record of a Rector dates to 1279.

The current building has a bell cast in Amsterdam by Francis Hemony. It also has many stunning stained glass windows but more importantly it is the hub of Dalry. Who didn’t attend a church service or coffee morning in the hall? Many community groups use the hall still and there is little enough of this. The church shop is a lifeline for many people in the town and would be sorely missed.

St Margaret’s in the Cross is a landmark, a place of worship and a community and the heart of Dalry. Please sign this petition and share widely
