The beautiful boy in the picture is my nephew, Wade Lee Alexander Myers. He was the son I never had. We instantly bonded the day I met him and I've been his "My Chelsea" ever since. Wade also had a strong and wonderful relationship with his Gam (my mom Patty). He was handsome, smart, funny, and protective. He was a beacon of light in his dark life he had to endure.

Wade was a victim of mental and physical domestic violence that led him to tragically pass away from a fentanyl overdose after Gwinnett County Child Protective Services left him in a house to be abused and was being provided drugs by his guardians  to deal with that instead of a safe home where he could grow and thrive.

A report was made November 2021 on all 5 kids in the home. 3 were removed immediately by Hall County Children Protective Services. Hall County CPS then reached out to Gwinnett County CPS and STRONGLY RECOMENDED the removal of the other 2 children from the home due to unsafe conditions and abuse. Instead Gwinnett CPS decided to just close the case and leave them in the home. Multiple calls from numerous people were made to Gwinnett County CPS on behalf of Wade and his sibling. Not only did they refuse to reopen the case, they left messages unanswered, didn't bother to make a record of any contact to them, and then one lady in the office flat out said she would NEVER open the case again so stop bothering her.

The abuse Wade endured from every guardian he ever had was already taking a toll on him. When the 3 others were removed and Wade was there with his younger sibling.  He spiraled into a defeated shell of himself. He was isolated and threatened to not talk to anyone outside the house. Contact with me and my mom was completely banned. I'm stubborn and found a way to get in contact with him anyway a few times. The last time I spoke to him he was extremely depressed and felt abandend and helpless. I told him to hold on just a bit longer because his birthday was December 11th and he would be 17 so he could live here then. He said that didn't matter and he still couldn't leave his younger sibling behind with no one to protect them.   I tried to get a hold of him any way I could even just to say Happy Birthday but He was never able to talk to me again. I can still feel the last hug we gave each other. I am still haunted by the sadness and desperation in his voice the last time I talked to him.

In March 2022 he was camping with his dad and step mom. He died 3-21-22 from fentanyl laced weed/ and or horse tranquilizer that was bought with his dad and stepmoms money and was also in their system.

Had Gwinnett County CPS removed Wade and his sibling from the home then he would still be alive today.

Please help us pass Wadester's Law so if one child is removed from an abusive home then all children will be removed pending investigation. Georgia currently doesn't have this law.
