Beelzebufo, also known as the devil frog by some media outlets, was a prehistoric frog genus from the Late Cretaceous. The species beelzebufo ampinga was possibly the largest frog species to ever live, it resided in what is now Madagascar.  Beelzebufo ampinga lived between sixty five to seventy million years ago.

Path of Titans needs beelzebufo as a playable carnivore in the game because while there are many playable reptiles, there are no playable amphibians currently on Path of Titans. A decent portion of beelzebufo ampinga’s skull and some leg bones have been identified from its fossils, giving Path of Titans a basic and general idea of what to go on yet still able to take creative liberties on what they want it to look like. A playable beelzebufo would be a very unique and welcome addition to the game.

Often labeled as “beach-ball-sized”, beelzebufo ampinga grew to a length of about sixteen inches and weighed around ten pounds. It had sharp teeth and a strong bite for its size, which was calculated by researchers measuring the bite forces of its extant relatives. The bite force of beelzebufo ampinga came out to be well over two thousand newtons, which is the same as a wolf’s bite force, making beelzebufo ampinga’s bite powerful for its size. In game beelzebufo’s attack would likely be a decent bite attack as well as some bleed damage to go along with it as modern day horned frogs, beelzebufo’s extant relatives, tend to cause high amounts of bleeding with their bites.

Beelzebufo’s life stages would be unlike any other creature in the game. In hatchling stage, at tutorial,  it would be a small tadpole with four legs and move slowly, rapidly developing until it became a froglet at juvenile stage. Juvenile stage would rapidly develop until becoming a full frog at adolescent stage which will then grow until it reaches its much larger and more robust adult stage. Despite having a tail as a tadpole and froglet, beelzebufo will not have a tail attack as not only will the tail shrink over its growth, it also won’t be powerful enough to hit with. Beelzebufo, even at hatchling stage while being a tadpole, will use the same animations on land for walking and running, as well as having the same back leg propulsion animations for swimming.

Beelzebufo will have a unique niche in how it will be able to take down early juvenile stages of larger dinosaurs and the older stages of rather smaller dinosaurs and AI by how it has a large mouth in proportion to its body size. Being a frog, beelzebufo’s oxygen bar will go down extremely slow in water as adult amphibians typically can still take small amounts of oxygen from the water making them be able to hold their breaths for long and extended periods. It could also have a back legs ability that give it a more powerful jump.

A unique function beelzebufo would add to Path of Titans is that it would be the first creature to utilize toe based abilities with three options to suit different play styles with extended webbing like those of aquatic frogs to heavily increase swim speed but heavily reduce running speed, regular or balanced webbing being like semi aquatic frogs and being balanced at both swimming and running, and no webbing as seen on most species of toads which would heavily increase running speed but heavily reduce swimming speed.

Overall beelzebufo is a much needed playable carnivore in Path of Titans that would add to and diversify the game.
