Call on Monroe County Legislature to Vote on Community ARPA Funding Now!
Why this petition matters
Monroe County received $144 Million in Federal American Rescue Plan Act funding to invest in transformative programs and services. Under the “Bring Monroe Back” initiative, the county held public forums, established strategic goals, and conducted a competitive RFP process that was open to all qualified community organizations. Ultimately, 40 projects were chosen to receive funding to help communities in need.
Some of the projects include:
· Expanded housing for homeless veterans
· Affordable childcare options
· Workforce development programs for urgent high demand fields experiencing critical shortages, including a focus on youth.
· Eliminating barriers to healthcare, including access to skilled nursing facility beds.
· Services for domestic violence survivors
· Expanded mental health clinics
· Loans for Minority and Women Owned Businesses
· Eliminating barriers to healthcare
· Helping seniors navigate health care and social services
· Expanded food access programs for Monroe County families in Gates, Greece, and Irondequoit.
· Violence reduction programs
President LaMar and the County Legislature have had this legislation since September 20th, but they have not yet brought this to this to the legislature for a vote, thereby delaying funding and critical work on these community initiatives.
Continued delay will harm our community and will put this funding at risk.
Tell the Monroe County Legislature to vote TODAY to Bring Monroe Back and invest $100 Million in our community!
