Why this petition matters

Started by Ryan Nix

Update: as of 9/17/2022, despite both the CDC and CDPH both advising against the continued testing of unvaccinated individuals, the LRCCD is maintaining their vaccine mandate. Therefore, we will be holding a protest on 9/28/2022 from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM at American River College.

========================

On August 3rd, 2021, the Board of Trustees of the Los Rios Community College District (LRCCD) passed "Board Resolution 2021-18: COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement," which requires all staff and students to receive the COVID-19 vaccination no later than October 1st, 2021. Staff who do not comply have been threatened with termination, and students who do not comply have been told that they will be dropped from classes and denied access to District facilities.

The resolution in question: https://losrios.edu/shared/doc/board/2021/enc/2021-18-covid-vaccination-resolution.pdf

The purpose of this petition is to reverse their decision. Thus, we the undersigned would like let the Board of Trustees and Chancellor know that the staff and students of the LRCCD, as well as the local community and society at large, do NOT agree with their resolution. Moreover, we affirm our natural right to bodily autonomy, as well as the right to refuse medical procedures that we deem harmful; and that we should do so free of coercion, free of extortion, and under no threat of discipline or denial of education.
