Chaos on Soča in 2024
As we have been dreading, the Intermunicipal Administration of the Soča Valley published the message below in Slovenian on its web page https://www.soca-plovba.si/ . Bovec is keeping the same price of river permits, while Kobarid and Tolmin are raising them multiple times by adopting separate regulations. We consider it a disgrace. This means e.g. that two permits will be required for the Srpenica-Trnovo section. You can express your opinion here:

Dear visitors, friends of the Soča, or, as the regulation calls you, users of the navigation area of the Soča and Koritnica rivers.
Navigation on the Soca and Koritnica rivers is permitted from 15 March to 31 October, from 9 am to 6 pm. A fee is payable for use, which users can arrange at https://dovolilnice.dolina-soce.si/?lang=sl Further purchase information will be available from the Tourist Information Centres in the Posočje region.
Please look carefully at all the warnings and information we provide before entering the river. This is the only way to use the navigable area safely and responsibly, as far as outdoor sports activities allow.
Due to the natural conditions on both rivers, dangerous obstacles will always be present, so please take extra care and check the condition of the intended navigation route before entering the river, both via this website and in person.
If the water level is above 40 m³/s, measured at the Log Čezsoški - Soča gauging station, we advise against downstream navigation.
This means that while you can use the navigable area, navigation will require extra care.
Prices and types of permits according to the regulations currently in force for the 2024 navigation season

SECTOR 1: Bovec
Daily kayak: 3 €
Weekly kayak: 16 €
Season kayak: 30 €
Season raft: 500 €

SECTOR 2: Kobarid
* Single unnamed permit: 10 €
**Daily name permit: 10 €
Weekly name pass: 50 €
Season name permit: 250 €
***Seasonal name pass at a subsidised price: 25 €

SECTOR 3: Tolmin
* Single unnamed permit: 5 €
**Daily name permit: 5 €
Weekly name pass: 25 €
Season name permit: 125 €

***Seasonal name pass at a subsidised price: 25 €
*a single unnamed permit is valid for a single entry and a single exit from the river under the conditions as stated in the permit
**daily named permit valid for unlimited use of the entry and exit points under the conditions as stated in the permit

Hi everybody, Kobarid municipality wants to raise up the kayak daily permits to 15 euro per person per day!

We think 3 euro as it is now can be reasonable but 15 without any service it is not for sure.

With the new law it will also not be possible to go kayaking when the water level in Log Cezsoski will be lower than 8 cms, this means probably all July August and September.

And what about closing the canyon between Trnovo and Otona? The most beautiful section of the Soca. Kayakers are coming from all the world to paddle it.

The local law has validity from 01.01.2024 so now is the last time to try to stop them.

This will be economical disaster for the Soca Valley, no more people in the camping places, apartments, restaurants, and lot of job opportunities less for the locals, only in our small company, Alpin Action, 10 locals will loose the job, and the village of Trnovo ob Soci where we are located will not have anymore the food store and bar that are a service financed from our kayak store.

They say it need to be like this because there is too much traffic on the river, but we are 30 Years in this business and we know very well that kayakers comes in Spring and Autumn and not July/August when the real chaos happens..

It is also discrimination as if i go to the river, use the road and the parking place with kayak i need to pay 15 euro but if i go to the beach to swim, same roads, same parking places are for free!

They did try to do this already in 2019......
