SAVE WOODLANDS SO. COUNTY LIBRARY & SENIOR COMMUNITY CENTER

SAVE WOODLANDS SO. COUNTY LIBRARY & SENIOR COMMUNITY CENTER
The Issue
The Woodlands South County Library and the Senior Citizens Community Center have been selected by our Commissioners Court to be moved to Grogan's Mill and the South Millbend Randalls Center. Plans for current land of Township/Waterway land will be for an undisclosed project. HELP US SAVE OUR LIBRARY & SENIOR COMMUNITY CENTER! Few patrons of either facility are not aware of this proposal. The Seniors use the facility for Meals on Wheels, various games, sewing projects, and fun actvities. It's where we gather to be an active part of our Hometown. We like the current location!
Grogan's Mill Shopping Center needs a boost but not at the expense and detriment of our Senior Center or children and adult patron's of the Library. The "Land Swap" negotiated by Commissioner Noack and the Howard Hughes Corp is to swap very lucrative property along the Township Waterway (Lake Robbins and our Library and Senior Center) for land of lesser value. The Grogan's Center was promised a grocery store but it is unclear if that is happening, We do not object to an additional branch library location at that center or a grocery store---just don't close the current location. We could use an additional branch library as the population has shown a large increase since completion in 1976 of the South County Library.
From a few days of several of us collecting a face to face survey of hundreds of signatures, it has shown only about ten percent of those people signing even knew a "swap" was "in the works." Reactions have been clear we want to keep our current library and Senior Center. Seniors selected their retirement years to live close to these facilities. Moving them will create hardships for a segment of our citizens we hope officials will vote to protect. Please sign our petition and SAVE OUR LIBRARY AND RESPECT OUR SENIORS! Give us transparency in politics for our Community and keep the tag line "the Best Community to live in--The Woodlands, Texas!"
June 13 will be another meeting of the Montgomery County Commissioner's Court and usually they meet in Conroe at the Sadler Bldg, 501 N, Thompson, 4th floor, Conroe, TX 77301 at 9 a.m. Call Please sign up to speak and wear a white hat or cap. phone: 936-539-7812 You can help us make a difference!
