Why this petition matters

Started by Tim Allen

The DVLA has announced its plan to withdraw Road Tax services from Post Offices. This decision will have a devastating impact on our local post offices, which are already struggling to survive. We cannot let this happen!

Post offices play a vital role in our communities, providing essential services such as banking, postal and government services. They are often the only point of contact for many elderly and vulnerable people who rely on them for their daily needs.

According to research conducted by Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB), over 2 million people in the UK do not have access to online services, making it difficult for them to tax their vehicles online. Withdrawing road tax services from post offices will leave these individuals with no other option but to travel long distances or use expensive alternatives.

Moreover, this decision will also affect the financial viability of many post offices across the country. According to National Federation of Subpostmasters (NFSP), around 3,000 post office branches could close if they lose their contract with DVLA.

We urge the DVLA and government officials to reconsider their decision and keep road tax services at Post Offices. Let's save our local post offices and ensure that everyone has access to essential government services.
