Every New Years Eve/New Years, over the course of two or three days, SyFy Channel runs a Twilight Zone marathon.  They've been doing it for about 50 years now.  Ok, that last part isn't true, but suffice it to say they've been doing it for a long time.  Long enough that it's become a New Years tradition that a whole lot of people look forward to.  And by a whole lot of people, I mean me.  I look forward to it a lot.  My wife too, but more so me.

Anyway, this year, SyFy Channel has decided to shit all over its marathon viewers by doing the unthinkable: They're squeezing 3 episodes from the failed 2019 'reboot' series into it.  And to add insult to injury, it's right smack-dab in the prime time New Years time frame.

Now, I shouldn't have to explain how and why this is so very, very wrong and so very, very upsetting, but, well, I'm going to anyway:  The joy of watching the Twilight Zone marathon every year (beyond the fact that it's an absolutely amazing, landmark series) is that it takes the viewers back to a different time for two or three days straight.  The black and white... the funny way people talked... the fashion styles... the cheap and primitive costumes and effects... the fact that everyone looks about 20 years older than they actually are... it's all part of the experience, and the continuity of that experience during those days is what makes it work so well year after year. 

I mean, if I said I wanted to watch "Nightmare on Elm Street," you'd probably assume I meant the 1984 original, and not the shitty 'reboot' with the kid from "Bad News Bears" playing Freddy Krueger, right? Right. This all seems kinda obvious, doesn't it?  Yet, apparently it's not to the formerly fine folks at SyFy Channel.  Or at least whoever they put in charge of scheduling the marathon this year, whom I assume is some clueless millennial that either doesn't get what the marathon is about, or just thought it'd be a laugh to troll those of us who do enjoy it by doing the TV programming version of pissing in our cornflakes.

Can't some things just continue to be enjoyed for what they are by the people who enjoy them?  Does everything have to be changed even if there's no valid reason for it? 

So, if you agree with me, please sign my petition.  We have ONE week to get SyFy Channel to change their minds and put proper, original, Twilight Zone episodes on in place of the currently-scheduled stupid 2019 nonsense.
