For the past 14 years, I have tirelessly sought to enroll my four children in Islamic schools. However, the exorbitant costs associated with Islamic education have posed significant challenges for me and many other parents like me. In contrast, Catholic schools, which are funded by the government, provide an accessible and tuition-free education for their students. This disparity places an unfair burden on Muslim families, limiting their options for nurturing their children's spiritual and cultural development.

As the statistics demonstrate, the Muslim population in Canada has been steadily increasing over the years, with Muslims now accounting for 3.7 percent of Canadians, making Islam the largest non-Christian religious group and the fastest-growing religion in the country [source: Global News]. The roots of Islam in Canada can be traced back to 1871, and the establishment of the first mosque in 1938 further underlines the longstanding presence of Muslims within our diverse society [source: Wikipedia].

Given these facts and the growing significance of Islam within Canada's cultural and religious fabric, I firmly believe it is time for the government to extend its financial support to Islamic schools. By doing so, we can ensure that Canadian Muslim families have equal access to educational institutions that align with their values, traditions, and faith. The benefits of government funding for Islamic schools are not limited to the Muslim community alone but also encompass broader societal advantages, such as promoting cultural diversity, fostering religious tolerance, and nurturing the growth of well-rounded citizens.

I humbly request the Canadian government to consider allocating the necessary funds to support Islamic schools and make enrollment more accessible for Muslim families. Just as Catholic schools have been granted government funding, we believe that our Islamic schools deserve equal consideration and support.
