Why this petition matters

Who is impacted?

Since the introduction of the Season 3 on April 12, 2023, thousands of players primarily on PC have been unable to launch or play the game they have paid for.

Most players have hundreds of hours of game time already clocked since MW2 launched on October 2022 and upon the Season 3 launch they've been unable to play at all.

Many players have raised Support tickets directly to Activision to no avail. There are countless threads on reddit, Twitter posts as well as numerous threads on the Steam Discussion Board with over a thousand posts and counting.

Many PC users are currently unable to:

  • Launch MW2
  • Those who are able to launch experience freezing at some point during the in game update or loading process
  • Many have reported being able to launch via safe mode but unable to play the actual game
  • Players are experiencing crashing citing DirectX errors
  • Errors showing "Game_ship.exe" crashing
  • Verifying game files results in 38 files failing validation yet nothing can resolve this issue, even by deleting and re-installing the game.

It should be noted that almost all users have reported that this issue is isolated to MW2 exclusively. Other games work on their machines without issue.

Why is now the time to act?

Users have anecdotally raised potential causes and issues as the root cause of the freezing and crashing with DirectX, fTPM, BIOS, AMD Vega issues and also affects Nvidia users as well as AMD processor issues.

There is no reason why a game that worked perfectly fine prior to Season 3's launch would suddenly stop working and a whole segment of the player base just ignored by Activision.

It has been 2 weeks since most players have been able to play this game and either Activision takes action and resolves this issue or we should be eligible for a refund.
