Fair Payment of School Bus Drivers
Fair Payment of School Bus Drivers
Why this petition matters
A petition pertaining to Michigan's 4th congressional district in changing and improving the lives of school bus drivers.
Overall, we wish to draw more people into the profession and further develop change for others who may become school bus drivers in the future.
Below are some of the areas we wish to change within the current system:
We wish to further develop and change the minimum wage of school bus drivers within the 4th congressional district from the average wage, to a more sustainable and liveable wage.
We wish to establish better benefits supplied by the state to school bus drivers to make a more stable and safe environment for the people transporting our children. (This can include: full health coverage, more paid vacation and/or paid time off, and a better retirement plan.)
Currently, school bus drivers, in the 4th congressional district, are not paid enough for the services rendered. The amount of paid hours these people work is not enough to live off of. This alone does not draw more people into this field of work and has resulted in many school districts having a lack of drivers, resulting in many children not getting to school in a timely manner, or in some cases, not at all.
