The Bulgarian community in Australia feels that the SBS's decision to decommission the SBS Radio program in Bulgarian is extremely unfair, un-Australian and not in the spirit of Multiculturalism and unity.

The Bulgarian community in Australia is relatively small in numbers, however, it is very active and over the years has been organising and participating in many multicultural events and has a strong imprint on Australian multicultural life and economy.

 

The fact, that the Bulgarian community is spread around Australia and not concentrated in specific suburbs makes it even more important to receive the news, and current affairs and be updated via the SBS Bulgarian program around the country. 

The SBS Bulgarian program is very important because it is linking the Bulgarian community living across Australia and it is the only official media in the Bulgarian language for the whole Bulgarian community living in Australia. 

We need our SBS Bulgarian program which is informing and uniting our community. 

The proposal is discriminatory and divisive and is against the values of SBS. Those values are to be inclusive and to serve multicultural Australians especially those who speak a language other than English at home. Our program has existed for 45 years and it has been always presented by professionally trained journalists.
