Why this petition matters

Started by Deb Murphy

I am a customer who experienced an unfortunate incident with AT&T. I returned my phone to them, only to find out that it was stolen during the delivery process and replaced with a non-AT&T flip phone. To add insult to injury, AT&T has now charged my account for the balance of the iPhone that was stolen.

This is not just about me; this could happen to any of us, and according to the AT&T customer forums, has already happened to many. There are countless stories like mine where customers have been victims of theft during the return process. It's time we demand transparency and accountability from AT&T.

According to Consumer Reports, in 2019 alone, there were over 1 million complaints about package theft in the United States (Consumer Reports, 2019). This statistic is alarming and shows that this problem is widespread.

We urge AT&T to investigate its third-party logistics companies and its employees thoroughly and hold their employees accountable for any instances of theft or fraud. We also call on them to establish better security measures during their return processes and ensure that no customer will have such an experience again.  Finally, we call on them to make whole the customers who have had no choice but to pay the balances on their stolen phones.

Please sign this petition if you believe in holding corporations accountable for their actions and ensuring customers' rights are protected.
