Why this petition matters

Started by Kristi Cole

Dear Town Council, Planning Board and Master Plan Commission,

We respectfully draw your attention to a problem in the Littlebrook area of town that you can fix.  The section of Snowden Ln between Van Dyke Rd and Overbrook Dr is a key artery for vehicular traffic in Princeton. It is currently also heavily trafficked by pedestrians, though it has no sidewalk (or even a shoulder to step into) as vehicles drive by at the speed limit of 35 MPH (or faster).

The path through Smoyer Park shoots pedestrians out onto this perilous section of Snowden Ln. It is also a popular route for children to commute to and from Littlebrook school during the morning and afternoon rush hours. With the recent Windy Hill and Prentice Ln developments, the pedestrian and vehicular traffic will only rise in the very near future.

A sidewalk along this stretch of Snowden has been on the existing Master Plan yet not prioritized. We trust that it will remain on the new Master Plan and further petition you to prioritize and act on it.

We believe this to be an urgent matter of public safety. We understand that there are hurdles associated with such a project, but urge you to use our collective resources to address them in the interest of protecting human life on our roadways.

Sincerely,

Princeton Residents
