Protect Iowa from Covid
Protect Iowa from Covid
Why this petition matters
We, the concerned parents, students, educators, and staff at Iowa’s public universities, demand urgent moral action to protect the health and safety of our campuses and communities. We call on the universities’ leadership and the Board of Regents of the State of Iowa to fulfill their duty to keep our communities safe, by taking the following actions necessary to curb the spread of COVID-19:
- Issue an immediate indoor mask mandate for all campus buildings
- Institute mandatory biweekly COVID testing or require proof of vaccination
- Allow flexibility in modes of course instruction or work, including remote options (such as temporary work arrangements and temporary learning arrangements)
To continue to ignore current public health guidelines is a gross negligence. It runs counter to science, is out of step with policies enacted at every other Big Ten university and other institutions of higher education across the country, and unduly places our students, staff, faculty, and community members at risk.
Signed,
Concerned parents, students, educators, and staff at Iowa’s public universities
