Why this petition matters

The Inner West Council has proposed a shared path along Iron Cove Creek. Let’s get it built!

The path will connect Ashfield Pool to Iron Cove Bay and make our local area a better place to live, support our health, and improve our environment.

Now we need your help: strong community support will encourage council and the state government to build this much needed community asset as quickly as possible.

The project has already received $100,000 funding from the Inner West Council for a master plan – which will map out design options and capture what the community wants to see. The NSW State Government also awarded a grant of $90,000 in 2021.

Please sign and share this petition – your support will help keep the momentum going!

Friends of Iron Cove Creek is asking for safe, beautiful pathways across busy roads and railways (following the current Transport for NSW (TfNSW) Road User Space Allocation Policy which places pedestrians first).

New paths to walk and ride will help families stay healthy, spend quality time together, and allow children to get to school on their own steam.

There are already great examples of shared paths in the Inner West: The Cooks River path winds among trees and parks and the Parramatta River Walk completes a continuous riverside route through five suburbs and public transport.

Friends of Iron Cove Creek is a grassroots organisation formed to represent residents on the Council’s proposed project to create a walkway/cycleway on Iron Cove Creek (Dobroyd Canal) from Ashfield Aquatic Centre to connect with existing paths in Iron Cove Bay.

More details of the project can be found on our website ironcovecreek.org, along with a more comprehensive survey in case you want to share further thoughts with us. You can also download a printable petition on the site, or email us or write to us.

We have PO Box 227 at Croydon PO if you would like to contact us via the mail.
