Why this petition matters

Started by Morgan Humphrey

I have personally witnessed the horrific abuse and even murder of women at the hands of men. Enough is enough. If men won't stand up to this issue, I as a woman will take a stand. In modern America, no woman should be missing or abused by a male figure. This petition aims to highlight the plight of Black, Hispanic, and Native American women who are disproportionately affected by high poverty rates and domestic violence.

According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV), 1 in 4 women have been victims of severe physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime. More alarmingly for our cause, studies show that African-American/Black women experience domestic violence at rates higher than their white counterparts (Institute on Domestic Violence in the African American Community). Similarly alarming statistics exist for Hispanic and Native American women.

We need urgent action from lawmakers to address these issues head-on with legislation that protects these vulnerable groups from domestic violence while also addressing systemic poverty issues that exacerbate this problem.

It's time we do something about it - for every woman who has suffered silently or lost her life due to male violence. It's time we protect our sisters - because one victim is one too many.

Please sign this petition now; let's demand an end to male-perpetrated violence against Black, Hispanic, and Native American women together!
